Jamey Bell of PASS is this Week’s Guest on Adult Site Broker Talk.
Jamey Bell is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and is the Medical Director of the Sexual Health Program at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the largest facility in the world providing health and social services to the LGBTQ+ community.
Jamey also serves as Medical Director of PASS, the non-profit organization dedicated to the health and safety of adult industry workers.
Jamey became a member of the PASS board of directors in 2021 and was named Medical Director in September 2023. He has long been a vocal supporter of the rights of sex workers and the provision of affordable, accessible healthcare to those involved in the adult industry.
Jamey blends clinical expertise with empathy and community service, drawing on over 20 years of experience in healthcare and focusing on social justice in healthcare for disadvantaged people.
While attending Ball State University in Indiana, Jamey earned master’s degrees in nursing and community health, which he earned with honors.
In his field, he has achieved the status of board-certified nurse practitioner.
The Free Speech Coalition expanded upon an earlier initiative to standardize and oversee the adult industry’s testing practices when they established PASS in April 2011.
Organizations in the US and Canada that test for STIs and other infectious diseases are PASS partners, and PASS receives data on work clearances from these groups.
May 2021 saw the official launch of PASS as an independent entity.
No individual test results are uploaded to the PASS database; instead, the database merely records binary yes/no ‘work clearance’ data.
Based on the testing panel results, clinical professionals with the required licenses at the testing partner make the work clearance assessment.
Nine separate tests for seven different STIs are part of the testing regimen.
The initial sample collection date is the starting point for the 14-day clearance period.
